MenuTrinfo: Soup to Nuts Nutritional Information for Independent Restaurants
MenuTrinfo helps independent restaurant owners play in the same sandbox as the big boys - national and regional chains - by providing accurate and reliable menu nutritional information.

FORT COLLINS, CO, June 05, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- More and more, savvy consumers are asking hard questions about what actually goes into the restaurant meals they are enjoying. Beyond the enticing menu descriptions, which highlight a few choice ingredients, diners have very little accurate and reliable nutritional information to help them make healthy choices. Without realizing it, many people are eating meals that are high in fat, salt and calories.

With the passage of the Health-Care bill, chain restaurants with 20 or more locations will be required to clearly post the calorie and nutritional information for each of their dishes. MenuTrinfo (www.MenuTrinfo.com) provides small restaurant owners—who are not obligated by federal mandates to label their menus—with a resource to answer all their customer's nutritional questions.

Betsy Craig, founder and President of MenuTrinfo, has worked with software developers and nutritionists to build a proprietary system that interfaces with the USDA ingredient database. "Once we get the recipe for a specific dish, we plug the ingredients into our program and the end result is absolutely spot-on nutritional information," she said from the company's headquarters in Fort Collins, Colorado. "The USDA database is compiled of over 25,000 ingredients and more than 500,000 nutrients. It's the most complete nutritional information available anywhere."

MenuTrinfo is working with the Colorado and Maryland Restaurant Associations to reach independent restaurants across the country. "As more states and municipalities institute legislation that obligates chain restaurants to label their menus, customers will naturally expect the same from smaller establishments," said Yvonne Rawleigh, President of Hospitality Solutions, LLC in Ellicott City, MD. "MenuTrinfo makes it easy and affordable for them to have their recipes analyzed and then to share that information with their customers. They don't even need to include all their dishes; a selected sampling will help their diners make informed choices."

Said Craig, "We offer turn-key solutions for our clients. We can even deliver finished menus with the nutritional information included, right to their front doors. It's all about making this easy and painless and helping these restaurateurs to be intuitive to their customers needs." She stops for a moment and laughs, "I guess you could say we're offering them the whole enchilada."
